Hawkes Bay

Hawkes Bay is the largest premium red wine producing region in the country with over 80% of the national vintage for both Cabernet Merlot and Syrah. Chardonnay and Cabernet Merlot varieties make up 50% of the total annual vintage. Approximately 50% of the vintage is white wine and 50% red wine.

Hawkes Bay is home to over 140 vineyards and 70 wineries, is New Zealands oldest wine region and is the Northern entry point to the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail. Hawkes Bay offers many food and wine trails and weekend farmers markets allow you to meet and buy from the grower directly.
